Let it snow! Or not...
It's no secret that I love snow. I love lots of snow, enough to go sledding in and make igloos with the kids.
But it never snows in Skåne. At least not very often. Last year, it dusted once or twice, but for the most part it just rained and the wind blew.
It's a bit annoying that now that I am out in the country, it's been snowing on and off for months.
Not that I don't love the snow, but I hate the fact that way out here, no one plows the roads.
Everyone in town has clear roads, while we have ice and snow still.
Since the car is still broken, we've been driving Mattias' mother's car, and parking on the street since the car is taking up two spots (we don't normally have to account for a second car).
So, imagine my annoyance, when some kind soul actually plows a week ago and there's a huge pile of snow at the end of the driveway that I have to climb over to get to the car. Not to mention that the plowing did little good. It's still flat ice throughout our neighborhood and good ways down to the main road.
Today I had a meeting scheduled with Tyler's school. They cancelled because of the impending snow storm. That's a big deal.
Here's something I may not have told you about Sweden. Whatever the weather, you go outside. There are no "snow days." School goes on every day.
Kids have recess every day at school, wind, rain, snow or shine.
That was a bit of a shock for the kids.
No snow days? No notices when the weather is dangerous to limit travel? No delays? Nothing?
So when the school called me to cancel, I knew it's going to be bad. Just how bad I don't know, but bad enough to cancel a meeting?
Granted it's about 45 minutes away, so the travel would take a while in the weather... but cancelling something because of weather? It's just not Swedish.
