The previous post made me think of the way my grandparents had scared me with the story of the child and mother down the street who had the decision between going into the convenience store, or lying in a ditch as the storm passed. The girl went for the ditch, the mother for the convenience store. The mother died as the convenience store was destroyed by the tornado.

Was this a true story? Or something just to scare me into thinking I must choose a ditch over a structure with no basement?
